1974 Yamaha XS 650B: This build started with an  engine in bits, I wanted an old parallel twin and I could not find a British twin at the right money, and a friend mentioned " why not look for an XS 650".  S the project began, the frame was bought and the build started from there. Being me, it wasnt going to be stock, so the following work was done.

Front end was modified, I manufactured a new stem and fitted a set of forks from an early 80s Yamaha FZR 600 and a 19" wheel from a Yamaha XS750.

Swinging arm was from a later disc model XS 650, replacing the original 18" wheel for a US custom 16" wheel, fabricated the caliper mount and used a caliper from a Suzuki GS 500.

Engine was built from a collection of parts accumilated from autojumbles, this was completely rebuilt using an uprated oil filtration system and competition oil pump.

Triumph T595 Daytona footrests were used with a set of bespoke mounting plates.

In house manufactured engine mounts were fabricated.

Rebuilt carbs with pod filters and jetted to suit.

Boyer electronic Ignition.

Mikes XS (Florida,USA) single phase charging system.

Kick-start only.

YSS Shocks.

Cafe racer style megaphone silencers.

Bespoke rear light mount.

1996 Suzuki Mk 1, 1200 Bandit. Bought in 2025 as a running bike but in an appaling condition, at first I planned to just move it on, but fell in love with it, so then decided to rebuild it. Stripped the bike completely and rebuilt it from the ground up. The only thing not restored was the paint,  as the original paintwork was in really good condition, so I decided to leave it as it was.

Engine painted, frame, wheels, headlamp brackets, centre and side stand powder coated black.

Forks rebuilt with new internals and revalved.

YSS rear shock.

Swinging arm was reworked, as I wanted to keep the original anodised look, so decided to bead blast it, then scotch bright after the blasting  process, and then clear coat. It has actually recreated the original look.

Carbs rebuilt with a stage 1 Dynojet kit, K&N filter.

All polishing done in house

All fittings replated.

Serviced, new tyres, chain & sprockets.

About PK Motorcycle Services

PK Motorcycle Services has been a dream of mine for the best part of 30 years. My love for bikes started at the age of 10, and my mechanical knowledge came from helping build racing cars with my dad. I started building bikes at 17 when I modified a Kawasaki KH250, and the passion grew from there. This started a deep love for building old british and japanese bikes into chops and cafe racers. This then fuelled my passion to  restore classic bikes back to their former glory. I have developed a love for 70s to 90s Japanese bikes, ranging from the classic Yamaha XS 650, to the iconic mid 90s Suzuki Bandits. I put the same love and passion into customers bikes as as I do my own.

I hope you enjoy my website. You can follow me on Facebook at PK Motorcycle Services.
